Application · Black Sheep commerce team

Brisbane native. Commerce operator. Ready to join the flock.

My career runs from the shop floor at Apple Chermside to e-commerce at Youfoodz and five years at Shopify, with 10 years in the Shopify ecosystem supporting high-growth retail brands as they trade and evolve online. Now I'd like to bring that experience home and help grow Black Sheep online, working closely with John and the wider team.

Level: Stage plan

First 90 days

Three stages, shaped with John and the team and adjusted once in.

I'm not here to change everything. Learn how things run, back the team's priorities, keep what works and add value where the numbers say it counts.

Stage 1Days 1 to 30

Learn

Focus

  • Meet the team and key partners.
  • Learn the stack, the drop calendar and how an order flows across regions.
  • Understand current priorities and the numbers the team already tracks.

Outputs

  • A one-page summary of how online runs, checked with John.
  • A short list of questions and ideas to talk through.
Stage 2Days 31 to 60

Pick

Focus

  • Agree two or three priorities with John and the team.
  • Set a baseline for each one before changing anything.
  • Take full ownership of a regular task the team needs covered.

Outputs

  • An agreed priority list with owners and dates.
  • A simple baseline report the team can reuse.
Stage 3Days 61 to 90

Deliver

Focus

  • Deliver the agreed priorities, one at a time.
  • Support the team through peak trading and launches.
  • Measure results against the baseline.

Outputs

  • Delivered changes with before and after numbers.
  • A review and a draft plan for the next 90 days.

What I'd measure

Your scorecard comes first. I'd learn the numbers the team already runs and report against them. Black Sheep trades on Shopify, where I've spent 10 years, including almost a decade working closely with Shopify Partners and agencies. I can read the numbers quickly, know what sits behind them, and work well with the partners who build and support the store. These are the questions I'd keep asking.

Six areas I'd measure, the question behind each, and why it matters
AreaThe question I'd keep askingWhy it matters
Profitable growthAre we growing online without leaning on discounting?Full-price sales protect the brand and the margin.
CustomersAre we winning new riders and runners, and bringing them back?Loyal customers carry a premium brand.
Conversion and fitCan customers find their level, size and fit, and buy with confidence?Fit confidence earns the sale and cuts returns.
Drops and rangeAre launches landing, and is the range selling through?Every collection is a moment to get right.
Global storesIs each regional store as strong as the home store?Growth abroad depends on feeling local.
Community to commerceIs the community, from Flock Rides to stories, showing up in the numbers? The flock is the brand's edge.

Which numbers matter most, and when, is the team's call. I'd bring the questions, the experience and the work.

Level: Why Black Sheep

Why I want this

I ride, I've worked a shop floor and I've spent a decade in online retail. I'd like to bring all three home to Brisbane.

I'm a road cyclist. I ride regularly across Asia Pacific, joining community rides wherever I'm based, and I've been a member of local cycling clubs along the way.

Now I'm moving home to Brisbane and looking for a role I can commit to for the long term. A Brisbane brand that defies the status quo is where my career and my weekends meet, and I'd like to help it keep growing online, one stage at a time.
